She now found herself walking across a large plain of water. The level of the water was around three fourths the way up her shin; high enough to be perpetually noticeable but low enough that it did not heavily hinder her movement. The water was clear and clean. It seemed pure in a way that made her initially think it was safe to drink, but upon giving it a tentative try she realized the water was saturated with salt, and she spat it out. Below the water at her feet was pink sand, which would be kicked up whenever she made a step before quickly settling down, slightly perturbed from their initial position. The sun hung in the sky in a way that she estimated it was either nine o’clock in the morning or three o’clock in the afternoon. The sun did not shine harshly in her eyes, but the water around her reflected its light; on occasion it blinded her temporarily when small waves suddenly caused bright glare. However, when the light was not blinding it was a truly beautiful sight to behold. The sunlight was like diamonds glittering and dancing across the water all around for her to chase after. As she walked nowhere in particular, she realized that her skirt was slightly too long, and the hem had been soaked in the salty water. She tried in vain to keep it above the water, but found the value in holding her slightly up while she walked to be not worth the reward, in part because there was nobody other than herself making her keep her dignity in front of an imaginary audience. As she walked, she registered that the sun did not seem to move in the sky; it was the same time after multiple hours of her walking as it was when she entered here. The heat from the sun was luckily not overbearing, in thanks to gentle winds which blew from seemingly random directions, as if this world was trying to decide what the season was as she walked. Eventually, she found herself unable to walk any farther. With no goal in sight and no entrance to return to, she sat down on the sandy ground, soaking the rest of her skirt and the lower part of her shirt. She found while sitting that due to the high salt content of the water she was surprisingly buoyant. Once she had gathered her courage, she laid fully back, and though she was now soaking all her clothes and her well-kept hair in the salty water, she let herself float along with wherever the waves would now take her.
